Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thickness of Frame materials...

I'm just curious about the thickness at the thinnest part of say the top tube of some high quality frame materials like steel, titanium, aluminum and carbon. People talk about how thin they're getting, well how thin (in thousands of an inch or I can convert from mm) are they getting??? Anyone know? TIA

The range for alloy steel goes up to and maybe a bit beyond 1mm for straight gage. Gas pipe steel gets alot worse.

Do any manufacturers use "exotic" steels like DP, TRIP or TWIP?

Do a google search on tube manufacturers. They will usually give you all the specs you want.
