Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh boy.

27 miles today, knee felt SO much better. Doesn't feel too far off a healthy (for me) right knee. Talked to my ortho guy (who administers the shots) and when I told him I was concerned my knee was that cranky two weeks after the shots, he said it's not atypical for many patients to have post injection stiffness, etc. for 4+ weeks after the injections, so I'm in good shape. I think this means I got a good result from the Synvisc, my knee REALLY improved in the last 24 hours. Pain and stiffness level on this knee was 80% better than two days ago.

Coasting, throw some clips on those bad boys and you're good to go.

Meanwhile, post this:

Hardly. AAPL is money in the bank, the friggin stock is going to $800. FCBK is a dice roll on the ZBerg kid. Can this 27 year old software wiz monetize a multi-billion dollar business? If he doesn't do so (and do so spectacularly) the 50 x forward earnings valuation will be a total Investor Fail. I think it will be hard to eff up FB, but stranger things have happened. The stock offering price strikes me as a potential money maker, but it doesn't fit into Pcad's Investment Strategy. Not for nothing, but managing our investments (mostly individual stocks) I've averaged 10.5%-17.5% returns (we have three accounts) over the last 9 years through the choppiest stock market waters in the last 80 years, so I have a glimmer of a clue. I'm an investor, NOT a trader.

Do I think Facebook will be wildly successful? Yes. Do I want the stock at that price? No.

Sometimes, yes I can my little Gomerkins.

I'm glad you came back, you are the badly needed comic relief. I can't do it all by myself.

I get the feeling that if Gomer and I went out to dinner we'd spend so much time cracking up we wouldn't eat.

Well, ok, maybe we'd figure out how to have dinner.

Well, at least that way we wouldn't risk getting fat . . . ter.

So Jim Cramer says to go for it if you can get Facebook on the IPO. Otherwise, don't bother.

Which corresponds with my non-scientific observations on these "tech" companies. A bunch of yahoos jack up the price in the first few hours of trading. Then within a few hours, days, or at most weeks, it comes back to earth--20-50% off the highs.

I think Cramer is saying if you can get in on the IPO, buy it as a trade, take the quick profit after the opening day pop and run. As an investment, the stock strikes me as quite risky. Apple was once a riskier investment than it is today. I am firmly convinced that the only thing that will stop AAPL from doubling in the next 3-4 years is some unforseeable world crisis, financial market meltdown or a major mis-step by the company. The last of those possibilities is the least likely in my view. But it's stocks, never a sure bet. That being said AAPL @ $455/share is relatively solid bet, and I'll be very surprised if that doesn't become a dividend paying stock later in 2012. They have to do something with their $100 BILLION in cash. That's ridiculous. I've never heard of ANY company hoarding that much cash, not EVER.

Ohhhh no! Totally apolitical choice. That's about the time that chances of 35 degrees and rain gets sufficiently low that I don't feel the need to ride in boots all the time.

No rain today but the streets were still wet this morning. Dry and windy tonight, so I got the camera out while I was getting all urban in a Fredly way.
