Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i just got ea70 bars, and i was wondering if there was a "prefered" method of wrapping them. should i leave the flat parts exposed or wrap them, or is it just a preference.

Just a preference. Depends what's most comfortable to your hands ... unless you want to save 13 grams.

I think carbon ergo bars can look nice w/o wrapping but I think the alloys allow too much vibration in your hands if exposed.

I personally wrap my current carbon ergos with lizardskin from the drop up to the hood and then wrap over that will fizik tape all the way from the bottom to a typical stopping point of traditional round bars... the fizik tape only functions as a grip improvement as it is paper thin... I use the black felt like bar tape on my bars particularly. Because the Lizardskin is thinner than typical cork tape the two layers don't look unusual and unless I tell someone they are double wrapped, they have no idea.
The main reason I wrap up to the top is the internal cable routing sucked and pinched the cables so I ran them like traditional cables and decided to wrap the whole way up the bar... I also didn't like the transition from carbon to grippy bar tape.

I wrap mine just to where the bar diameter gets larger near the stem. I stop just before the change in size.

The tape stops at the spot where the bars get fatter and flatter. It's way more doper.

Agreed. It just looks cooler when it doesn't go all the way to the stem. Plus, when my hands are on the tops I'm not concerned with grip, so why bother?

since its alloy, and not carbon fiber, do you find vibration to be a issue at all
