wheelset under $600
so i'm in the market for a new wheelset. right now i'm building a second bike which is a cannondale supersix, but i do not have a single clue to what wheelset i will be using. i have $600 for a new wheel. i will be using it for training purposes and philadelphia road might be really bad in some neighborhood i pass when riding through. any recommendation? i am about 5'5 200 pound max of 205. i do not prefer custom because i do not know how to make it or anybody that can make it.

If you need them real quick, check out Boyd, or Williams 30x. "which wheels" threads at your price point pop up all the time. Check them out.

At your weight (same as me) you want to get a 23mm width rim and built with a few extra spokes.

I'm 175 and i train in NYC and i haven't had a problem. BUT - if you contact Sean @ Soul and tell him your weight, he'll tell you if they're right for you.
I know they have a "S2.0 Max" option that's built for heavier riders - beefier spokes and such.

go to https://maps.google.com/maps/place?oe...ed=0CFkQ4gkwAw in south philly. they will get you an appropriate build at a good price and are very meticulous.

I was a clydesdale and use these great wheels.
ROL Volant R/T Wheelset PRICE: $449.00/PAIR
For a little over 600 you can get (only saves you 125 g)
ROL Race SL Wheelset PRICE: $625.00/PAIR

I was going to ask more or less this same question on the premise that it hadn't been asked in at least a day, but now it has.
I weigh around 200 pounds. I've currently got a set of older Mavic Aksiums (2007ish) and a set of Ultegra (6600)/Open Pros. I'm wondering if the wheelsets in my price range are even enough of an upgrade over what I have to be worth the cost. It seems like a lot of the lightweight wheelsets get their weight by using light hubs (and what isn't light compared to Shimano hubs) so I wonder if I would feel the difference.
I was considering the WH-6700 wheels, a set of Ultegra/Stans 340 wheels or possibly the Soul S2.0s. I do cyclocross in the fall so the Stans wheels have a little extra appeal, but some reviews saying they're flexy have me worried. I went online last night to get the Mavic Elites from Nashbar, but it looks like they're sold out of the cheap ones.
