I just bought a lightly used 7950 crankset to replace a poorly shifting FSA Gossamer crankset. Inspecting the inside of the 7950 crankset, I noticed the 34T chain ring might not be indexed to the crank properly; by that I mean of the 5 bolt locations, some of the flanges are wide and some are narrow and they do not line up properly with the widths of the mounting locations associated with the 50T chain ring. The 34T chain ring has an arrow stamped into it. Should this arrow be aligned with the crank arm? My crankset has this arrow indexed one position off (72 deg) from the crank arm.

Thanks for the verification. I just checked out the Shimano website and the technical docs specify exactly what you show; the arrow is aligned with the crank arm.
