Which road bike should i consider buying?
New Trek 1.5 compact.
https://bertsbikes.com/product/11trek...ct-72029-1.htm
for 1,050
Or 2000 Bianchi Veloce
https://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/B...loce&Type=bike
for 800
The trek seems lighter, but i like how the Bianchi's frame is steel and according to the seller Italian made, and i think the Campagnolo components are better than the Tiagra components. The Bianchi is 12 years old but the seller says it has never been rode simply stored indoors in great condition.

Seems kinda high for a 12 year old bike. Threaded headset/stem, etc. I'm a fan of steel Bianchi's, but I don't know in this case.

Neither one. Get this one instead:

Chromoly steel is chromoly steel! Veloce is the equivalent of 105's!
A 2011 model bicycle is NOT a decade old. It's brand new!
Hard to imagine a bicycle just sitting around for more than a decade and not being used at all....

Keep shopping. I doubt you'll get the price down too much on either of those. I'm guessing the Trek is at a local shop and the Bianchi is a private seller? The shop probably wouldn't negotiate all that much and the private seller would probably be insulted by what you should offer him for it.

To me, it's a no brainer...
Get the Bianchi!
PS.
You could ride the heck out of it! As long as it looks the same, I'd recommend it again, just as vehemently!

FWIW, I have a 1998 Bianchi Veloce. I picked it up about 3 years ago, almost new, and paid $400. It was a great deal, but the asking price of the one you are looking at seems the opposite. It is hard to beat the ride of a good steel bike though, not to mention that it can withstand all kinds of abuse. I would try to talk the seller down on price though since it is such a great bike.

I bought my steel Bianchi when it was 3 or 4 years old ('04 Imola with Reynolds 631). It had seen very little use. It has a carbon fork and the fork/headset/stem combo is threadless. I paid around $600-$650. Great bike. This Veloce would be as well at a similar price.
