I've located where they threw him away. I'm the only one with this information. He's 200 miles to the west of the Indian city of Surat.
Uh, yah - nobody else knows not that you told them! Definitely 41 material.

in this country.
HA! Silly Yankee! Not everyone in the world lives in your police state.

Besides, I AM a member of the military-industrial complex. I get a free pass.

Got DUMPED on by a thunderstorm on today's ride. Still tied a PB on a Strava segment and set a new one - by one measly second. And I needed 2 seconds to take the third spot!

Strava is SO Fredly - and I love it.

Had a nice relaxing ride yesterday, for the most part anyway. I did go as hard as I could on one climb, knocked 61 seconds off of my previous pr and moved up to second from seventh position.

That is quite a jump considering that you didn't ride for 10 whole days. Good work. ;)

Must have been all the rest I had. :D

I was thinking of asking a question about aero bars, but maybe I should move along...

Go ahead....as long as we can yell at you!

Mostly took this one easy, but attacked the last climb and moved up to 3rd on the leaderboard:

Why not? Cadillacs are just re-badged Chevys anyway. Right?

Any GM product is pretty fail in my opinion. Then again I worked on BMWs, and a Lexus today, and they both are utter fail garbage.

OK. I have entered a sprint tri and may be doing some more tri's. But 90% of my rides are regular road rides.

I do have a set of clip-on aero bars that a friend gave me. I have never used them. I know that if I want to set up my road bike for proper TT/Tri positioning I would have to get a different setback seatpost and change my body position. I don't want to do that.

So the question is, if I keep my traditional road bike and setup but throw on the aero bars, is it going to make much of a difference?? I can already get fairly aero by keeping my back straight and keeping my forearms roughly parallel to the ground. How much of a difference would the aero bars make given this??

OK, go ahead and yell now.

rjones28 05-04-12 07:49 AM

Why not do the triathlon with standard road bars?

That's what I am doing for the tri I have on 5/19.

But I am wondering if there is going to be much added benefit to putting the clip-on aero bars, given that I want to maintain current setup for road riding, for future tri's.

datlas 05-04-12 08:39 AM

Where is Jen when I need her?!?

I'd get 'em. I used to run clip-ons for my 18 mile each way commute in Phoenix, even. It was so straight and flat with few lights that clip-ons totally got me to work sooner and feeling perkier.

RecceDG 05-04-12 09:48 AM

The aerobars will still help, even if you don't get into a full-up Tri position, so long as you aren't folded over to the point where you can't pedal properly.

Think of LeMond's "loop bars" which would be ludicrously high by modern TT/Tri standards, but still paid an aero benefit.

Also think of Boonan during this year's Paris-Roubaix where he adoped the "forearms on the tops" position for much of his breakaway.

They will only be worthwhile if you train in them. If so, you may also need to move your saddle a little forward so you don't go numb. I have a pair of clip ons but as I've trained, I found that I am faster if I just stay low with the heels of my hands on the hoods, or IAB. The clip ons never felt comfortable.

RUOkie 05-04-12 10:06 AM

and remember, it is only 20K

LesterOfPuppets 05-04-12 11:06 AM

20 km bike segment? Sprint the whole thing in the drops.
