Trouble with brifter cable

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trouble with brifter cable

I have always rode vintage bikes so i am pretty clueless when it comes to modern components. For my first modern build im doing an early 2000's steel Fondriest with a Dura ace / Sora group. I got some Dura ace 7700 brifters, hubs, and cassette but i'm having some trouble getting the rear brifter to shift. I put the cable in but i'm not sure it's in there right. Please check out this photo.

Thanks.

Problem solved, didn't downshift the brifter before installing the cable.

Yeah, I believe you should put it in the smallest cog position when you swap out cables.

Glad you solved it.

I wish every problem was this easy to solve!
