For a real 'pick me up' try toggling the display to kph.

I am not an average Speedfan user but will weigh in anyway because I know a fair amount about the subject. Speedfan is a great bit of freeware for monitoring chassis and CPU fan speeds and mostly best for monitoring temperatures. Some use it to adjust fan speed but I prefer that fan speeds are regulated based upon temperature in the BIOS.
To me there is always a tradeoff between noise and temperature. Spooling up fans to create a cool computer makes noise. My objective for personal computing is creating the best noise to performance ratio. I like a powerful computer that is whisper quiet. So choose your case wisely...one that flows well but damps sound. Best thing you can do is choose a large CPU heat sink which naturally cools better and of course uber silent fans with ball bearings. Lastly with the warm summer approaching, never lose sight of the fact that ambient temperature dramatically affects CPU, GPU and motherboard temps so keep an eye on computer temps in the summer months in particular.
Ride safely.

Dear "The *official* Average Speed fan thread",

On my rides I almost always have an average speed of 16.5 mph but two weeks ago I was shocked to find the average speed showing on my computer was 10.5! I figured it could be one of three things:
  • The super moon's strong gravitational pulls dramatically slowed my pace
  • Someone tampered with the wheelsize setting on my computer
  • The long descents from the big mountains we rode somehow confused the computer

What could it be?

wait up wait up hold up... by average speed you mean like cruising speed or like an average or average cruise?

Back in the day, during the long races, we would sometimes take a few hits of speed. But it wasn't the good stuff like "meth" that you kids take now. This was just average speed.

Looks like this thread is going to have an average lifespan.

I'm currently designing and building an in-wall computer cabinet that will have the air sucked out to my garage, but will be accessible from my studio ... it's the only way to be truly noise-free :D

The average speed in my 45+ race Saturday was 26.8. The scary part is there are 45+ guys who go faster than that in the time trial. I am not one of them.

If you don't know what "average speed" means, what are you doing here?
Furthermore ... talk about "cruising speed" is strictly forbidden in this thread.

Now THAT is a proper average-speed-post!

In a local amateur TT a few years back in Oostende, a 52 year old guy averaged 28 mph over 24k.
I tell you this to give you a goal to work with :)

sorry. by average speed i thought you meant mediocre speed, like my avg in my cat5 race yesterday. for mathematical average i just use the encabulator talked about in another thread.
