Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I loves me some average speed. The problem is that I feel my speed is only average. How can I get my average speed to be above average ?

Turn off your computer at all stop signs, red lights, and feed stations.

I don't think we have enough threads on average speed. Somebody should create 20 more.

How can a speed be faster than a month? Month is a measure of time, and without a corresponding distance measure, the computations are non-sense. Unless you carry the three.

So far in May I have only ridden 473 miles and done 16,990 kj's of work while climbing 28,262 feet. I have averaged 161 watts with an average normalized power of 238 watts.

I got a slow leak during my ride last night. I road at least 5 of 40 miles with decreasing pressure before I noticed and fixed it. How many mph can I add back? It was the front tire and I ride GP4000S 23mm on wide rims at 90f/100r and I weigh 177lbs. Thanks

But that would skew the average number of "average speed" threads.

My average speed going up hills is lower than my average speed going down hills. Is there anything I can buy for my bike that will fix that? Maybe something aero?

When I'm feeling down I hop on the trainer and pedal for an hour at low resistance. Average speed is 25mph baby! Perks me right up.
