Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been on this forum a long time and I cannot recall anyone saying that a name brand overpriced bike made them faster. Help us out and point out such comments.

Spending time selling road bikes in a retail bike shop, I can show a customer the differences between an overpric bike and a BD bike. I have found some customers incapable of understanding this. They are the "strictly price" buyers. No problem with that at all.

There's plenty of business for everyone and, at least at this point we still can chose.

Depends on who you talk to. I believe Sram is saying 2012 is the new stuff, and the old stuff is 2011 model year. A LOT of people are referring to the new stuff as being 2013 Sram. I think its mostly vendors. It looks like Sram might have put a lot of people in an awkward spot by the timing of the release. Would you want to buy a new bike with year old components on it? Even though the vendors took delivery of the inventory last month.
