Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aerodynamic shape of rims...

What is a aerodynamic shape of a rim? Is it as I suspect when the rim is "pointy" towards the hub in opposite to those that are flat? And how big difference does it make to have a aerodynamic shaped rim? Some say it is alot more important then weight at flat terrain and in high speeds. Sounds resonable to me, any other opinions?

Just as an expample, mavic open pros are considered non aero. CXP33s have an 'aero profile' but really are not considerd a true aero rim, because they are not deep enough.

Haha, wonderful Sydney... it is actually between those two I am choosing.
I'll go for the CXP33 unless Mavic got some 36 hole rim.

By now I better put a small plate on my roadie saying "With a special thanks to Sydney, without who this bike would never been born" You are really helpful!!!

The most 'aero' rim is no rim at all.... a disk wheel. Otherwise, an aero wheel has a cone-shaped, deep rim and reduced spoke count and blade spokes. You can spend a lot of money on aero wheels...but if you possition is poor on the bike, the wheels will be of little consequence. Your body makes up much more of the total frontal area than the wheels.

rider position is more important than aero wheels.
Low weight wheels also help acceleration and hill climbing
