Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why is there change?

I have had BAD luck trying to find a saddle that worked for me. At one point I had a saddle that LITERALLY left me bleeding after a ride (cobb saddle). Tried an Arione and it felt great. after 80 miles it felt so firm and hard that I tried the Tri2 arione. It has been a great saddle. not to much padding and overall the shape has fit me. So I thought. The last 5 rides (Averaged 50 miles) my saddle has been chaffing me raw right in the crease of my crotch (where my sack and thigh come together). I use chamois cream which helped at times. Wondering why I wasn't having this problem for a year and now all of a sudden its frequent. I'm wondering if the mid part of the saddle is wider than that part of my body which is creating some sort of friction?

Also wondering if it is to narrow for me (which sounds like a complete controdiction since I stated it possibly being to wide above). When I'm sitting at the widest point my sit bones feel like they are right on the edge. Its not like I have gained any weight over the year or something. Just kind of weird that this wasn't an issue in the past. I'm not trying to sound like some rookie asking which saddle they should buy next. I'm just at a loss here.

feels to wide at mid saddle, to narrow at the back? thats odd isn't it?

If its just happening now, are using same bib/shorts? maybe your chamois lost its cushion? I have several of the same bibs but I can tell which ones have a more comfy chamois.

Certainly possible. Try new shorts unless you know yours are in good shape.

When I've had that chafing problem, saddle was too high and/or too far back. Or the reach to the bars was too great.

Do you have narrow hips? I can honestly say my selle Italia gel flow mono link has done wonders, it's so friggin narrow and flexible in all the right spots and the new ones have an even larger cut out....they look like they have next to zero padding but it gives so much and is so narrow you don't need it. Both my friends get saddle sores, I've yet to ever have an issue. I had the Arizona and loved it, this just blows it out of the water

nope, haven't changed body position any. Its not to warm up here in Oregon yet, we just recently hit 80 and my rides are usually in the morning when its around 60. This is why it is so odd to me, I haven't changed anything.

This will sound weird, but try "trimming the forest" back a little bit in the offending area. Sometimes I have similar problems if I let the hairs get out of control. This totally fixes it.

Worth a shot....and it's free.

Also, your saddle hasn't moved side-to-side any, has it? Maybe been bumped and moved just a tad to one side?

Also, you're washing your shorts every single ride, right?

Has your mileage increased either weekly or per ride? Every pedal stroke counts.

too wide at mid-saddle definitely gives me chafing in exactly the area described in the OP. I don't know what to make of your 'too narrow at the rear of the saddle' thing, however. I've never experienced that. too narrow for .. what?

I would try a different saddle. get one from a LBS with a 30+ day exchange/return policy. move through the popular options. actually, maybe you should try specialized since they sell 3 widths per saddle style. some brands do not do that at all, they have one width per model and shape/features can vary tremendously by model.
