Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do i have here?

So i picked up this bike the other day free of charge. Ride mountain bikes ALOT and have built a few bikes in the past but when it comes to the roadie world i'm a bit of a noob. I tend to stick to rocks and dirt. So i'm curious as to what I have. Would like to clean it up and use as a means to supplement my conditioning for mountain biking. Obviously this is not a new bike, but is it worth cleaing/fixing up and using? Just from doing some searching on the interwebz it seems to be an 89 Bridgstone RB-1 but again, not 100% sure on that.

What you have is a nice looking old bike. I'd clean it up, get it ride-able then see if it was worth it to me to keep going on with a good rebuild.

Also, if you haven't already, post this in the classics and vintage forum. Some of those guys can probably tell you exactly what you have.

You've got a nice Bridgestone...Japanese manufactured, well regarded. I picked up an RB-1 for a song myself just last year and really like it.
