Hot snacks
I'm sick of melted powerbars, what do you do to keep your snacks relatively cool?
Keep mine in my jersey pockets, dun work.

Chocolate melts.
More natural food bars like Larabar, Clifbar, Odwalla bar don't melt. Maybe a little soft, but don't completely turn to molten goo. Tested and proven in 105deg GA heat.
Also even more natural like Bananas, Fig newtons, etc, won't melt either.

Thinking about putting them in a bag then into my water bottle once i drink enough for it to fit, then drink from another bottle till i need that one. I'll try that one now, also noticed bottles in jersey pocket stay cooler. Just sayin.

Clif Shot Bloks don't melt. The fruit & nut Kind Bars are also a good choice for hot weather, and aren't as bulky as a Clif Bar. My credentials: Phoenix, AZ summer rides.

Don't take stuff that can melt in the summer time. Fig newtons, Peanuts, Shot bloks, or Stinger waffles are what I might use on a long summer ride.

I just go with the flow during hot weather. I pack a baggie of cheese, some cubed bread...throw some skewers in my back pocket, and stop for a fondue break mid ride.

I took fig newtons on my last long ride and ended up with fig crumbles. I don't think the whole wheat ones hold together as well as the regular ones.
I'm partial to clif bars because I can get them in bulk at Costco and they don't melt. And I like 'em.

crunchy style granola bars are good whether it's 105 or 5 outside. I don't like Clif Bars in the winter because they freeze.

Problem solved, and it's well documented that sardines are great for endurance activities. Tastes great warm too! These are the best kind, I don't recommend the cheaper brands as they taste pretty nasty.

I like the Raw Revolution stuff for power bars and the cliff shot blocks for a quick boost. Neither melt.

I like things like nutter butter, bananas, etc. Powerbars are just about the nastiest food you could possibly carry, hot or cold.
Ever try to eat a powerbar below freezing temps while tied into a belay at 12,000 ft?

I freeze my powerbars first. They hold up for quite a while like that. Just don't try to eat it frozen. You'll break your teeth.

I love chocolate covered granola bars on a century ride. I usually eat about eight of them.
To keep them from melting, I either eat them the night before in my living room, or before I start the ride.

Oh man, haven't you tried King Oscars?? Those are my fave, though my dad likes the WildPlanet ones better. Also, the ones in olive oil are FAR better than the ones in water, IMO.

Kimchi also fares well when pocket-warm.

Totally agree that Powerbars are gross.
