Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Like the specs on the Sette. I bought a Tomasso Aggraziato w/ full Ultegra and have no problems for 4000+ miles...............well, a squeaky bottom bracket, but thats from wear and mashing.

Noob question here. Why is that? Are there better cranksets out there in Ultegra's price bracket, or is it an OEM thing? I was under the impression that Shimano made some fairly good brakes, but are they just too pricey for OEM use?

Yeah, good stuff but a bit pricey for OEM use. Folks can deliver a bike at a lower price point with Shimano shifters/derailleurs...but something like Tektro calipers and Gossamer cranks. Seems like you used to see more 'complete' groups spec'ed and the norm has shifted a bit.

The Nashbar frame is really cheap though (heavy, weird geometry) and the other components are junk.

The lower priced bikes are usually spec'd for noobs. They can call it an "Ultegra bike" but substitute everything but the shifters for cheap junk, and the buyer doesn't know the difference. 99% of the time any substitutions will be lower quality.

After all the deliberation, I'm pulling the trigger on the Sette Durata 1.0. I know the Forza is a better frame, but I don't think I'll know the difference...for a while at least. The geometry on the Durata works better for my frame too. The overall component group on the Durata is better, and if I decide to switch to a full carbon frame down the road, I can take all the components off that bike.

Thanks to everyone for helping me make my decision.
