Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Want colored chain for my roadie

I want a colored (white) chain for my 7-speed and i know they don't make them in 3/32. I'm wondering if a 1/8 will work. Will the color just get lost in shifting?

1/8 will be too wide. And coloured chains never look as cool as you think they will. They definitely exist in 3/32 though. For example, here's a half link one:

A white chain would not stay white very long

There are probably limited choices in color from KMC or Yaban. I have one of the gold KMC chains and it's slowly wearing but still looks decent about 1000 miles in...

No matter what color my chain is, it always ends up black

You do realize that it's going to turn dark gray in probably 20 miles of riding.

How much PBR does it take to make this seem like a good idea?

No idea why certain folks in this thread are coping such an attitude. It's just a question - sheesh.

Take a new chain and soak it in solvent - be sure to get all the grease out. Then spray paint it. Never lube it - it will take the paint off.
