Dura-Ace C24 9000 First look at actual wheels!
The long awaited line of Dura Ace 9000 came out,
Here is a first "touch and feel" of the C24 Wheels:
The wheels are inconspicuous but impressive. Dura Ace lost the "red" color. All black and white now.
The carbon alloy has an interesting look up close
10 speed cassete installed on the freehub capable of 11 speed with the spacer (quite sizable)
Beautiful Dura Ace skewers
Front hub
rear hub and spoke configuration
Looking forward to trying them out,
there was a bit of mystery about what the wheels look like in real life,
so here you go.
Overall, the feel incredibly sturdy (before road-testing) and are yet incredibly light (1364g i think)
The 24mm wide rim is the new trend

They do look really nice indeed. I have the previous version (DA 7900 C24) and like them very much. A great all around wheel set for all kinds of riding. If you're able, try to weigh them for an actual weight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 24 refers to how tall the rim is and not how wide. The current trend is for 23mm wide rims (HED, Zipp). I measured my 7900 C24 wheels and the width read just about 22mm as compared to my old Neuvation wheels that were 19mm wide.

From Bikerumor's detailed post back in May regarding these wheels:
"The new rims are called D2 and are 23mm or 24mm wide depending on the wheel model. They also gave them a deeper tire bed so the tire sits more flush with the sidewall and there’s no gap on the clinchers. According to their PR, these combined features balance frontal and side aerodynamics."

I've always liked the C-24s as well as the C-35s.

I have the 7850 c24's and love them. I noticed the 7900's don't have the red nipples.

On note to guys and gals considering,
Due to the 11-speed ready freehub and the seizable spacer you need to put to fit your old 10 speed,
It is important to align your rear gear-set right, to avoid dropping the chain (in my case sram red)
An obvious thing I guess.
We will all be riding 11 speed soon i guess, just seems to be the "new" thing.

great pics...
Thanks for the look. Very nice. And as some others have mentioned, the Shim C24 (7900 in my case) represents one of the best all round wheels there is. A top tier balance of accelerating, maintaining pace, climbing, amazingly quiet and sleek in the wind, descending sure footed and just about as bomb proof as they come. Frankly, I have a set of Zipp 404 clinchers, and for the kind of riding I do here in the Rocky region, my preference for a daily year round wheel are the DA's.
I have not view the specs as of yet. Any changes to the co-molding process, hubs, etc? I do notice the blackend hub...I would miss the beautiful polished chrome finish option of my current 7900's

You are correct, the "C24" means 24mm depth, however, the new Dura Ace 9000 wheels are wider than years past.

First road test - impressive so far.
(Nothing epic, chum creek (cat 3) climb but gentle+Melba descent to test - outside of Melbourne, VIC)
Sturdy feel, very quiet, good handling, no scary crack or creak noises even on accidental pot holes.
Handle bad country roads well,
Good on the climbs, seem to have good power transfer, relatively low weight of rear wheel (for the price category) helps, especially if you are not a mountain goat... (like in my case)
solid feel on descents with cornering, might have had better areo from a deeper dish,
but a handles side wind well instead (this was a pain with 50mm carbons)
This is just the first test, so we'll see how they last,
(the brand new wheels come with fancy bags, but no spare spokes, that is either a bad thing, or a good thing, who knows) - i've had new sets come with 5 spare spokes, this made we wonder... and of course they started braking and eventually the hub broke - will not mention the brand, I am not about bad-mouthing anything or anyone)

Unfortunately never had the pleasure to ride the 7900 series, shame. Therefore cannot compare to previous generation.
Got the 9000 after a series of recommendations of DA C24 as the best allrounders in this price category,
I wish there was someone adding to this thread who actually tested both.
I do have a distinct impression that rolling resistance is much lower than previous few sets of wheels.
(additional 50km test riding on a route I did 20+ times, I was able to beat most sections,
same conditions, same form, same weather etc and not really pushing it too hard... so I guess this is a promising)

Dura-Ace and Ultegra hubs are hard to beat. Extremely high quality and buttery smooth.
Nice pics!
