Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cipollini does TO

The lion guy is making bikes now, and has opened up a high-falutin' "North American flagship boutique" in Yorkville (https://www.b1group.ca/boutique). You just know it'll have massive stills of his truly and smell like aftershave. But what's really impressive is that he went on Toronto's legendary Donut Ride this past weekend.

Blimey, that's something. It's a really fast ride, but I'm guessing he didn't have any trouble keeping up. And anything for publicity, eh?

Yea, I'd say a world class pro sprinter only a few years retired didn't have any trouble keeping up with a local group ride, no matter how A++ it may be.

Nice looking bikes. Only one has Campy which is kinda surprising.

I've done the Donut a couple of times.

It's terrifying. Not because of the speed (although it is fast) but because of the size of it - and because it is completely undisciplined. 200 odd dudes riding sauve qui peut.

Yorkville has some of the hottest gold diggers in the world, man do I miss home sometimes. There is a latin bar there (can't remember the name) but the hottest women Cippo's shop is probably right above it (it is in the basement)
One day I'm going to have to make the trip north (maybe next year for Nationals) and bury you Canucks (I'm one too)

AFAIK, Cipollini is personally sponsored by Shimano, so his personal biked are Dura Ace equipped.
He had DA when he rode with Rock Racing in '08 as well, while the team was on Record.

Also, I'd really want to like Campag (my Fulcrum wheels are the bomb,) but Shimano & SRAM are both cheaper, and works just as well, if not better.

What? You...left? But Toronto is the centre of the universe!

No and no. Personal ergonomic preference dictates what you use, but in terms of functionality and quality, Campy trumps all. It costs more because it's better. Here's a secret to those in the know: buy Campy used. I just picked up a 12-year-old pair of carbon Record 9-speed shifters for my town bike, and they are fuggin' awesome.

No problem for me. But you never know, could be some IT incompetence at work with the site.

that would sort of be me - not directly me, but I work in IT.

This is a 3rd party thing we pay for and has given us some false positives lately.

You wouldn't be the first one to catch something off Cipo.

Ase you thinking of Babaloo? My father had a hair salon directly above there. I'll have to ask him if he's seen Cippo walking around.

He shouldve just opted to choose to sell em at bike stores/boutiques instead of making a store solely for his bikes. I don't see that store lasting long.

The bikes are very nice though.
