Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Suarez Bibs

Suarez bibs...any good? I'm going to be able to get a couple pairs at $29 each. Even if they suck, it is only $29, but I figured I'd ask!

I think the ones I bought at a bike america (or something like that) event are made from suarez. They are my first bibs ($40 at the event) and say the event name all over it. They are pretty good. The chamois is better than one of my $60 LG shorts which is now last in my rotation because they are awful. Overall nice quality and I like them. Definitely my favorite in the rotation.

I have a pair of $60 LG shorts and I am also not a big fan...the chamois does suck. Bad seam placement.

OP, check out Tenn cycling bibs. Similar price (~$33 off Amazon), good chamois, and they've held up well so far. The shipping is a bit slow since they come from England but they're of better quality than my more expensive Castelli bibs.

One of my LBS will have them on for $29 at the local bike clearance show next week. They have the store name (and other logos) on them; they are the club bibs essentially..they're nice looking (I've seen them before). Just want to know about comfort and quality.

I wouldn't think that the club would choose a model of bibs that didn't hold up. I think it's definitely worth the chance at that price.

They're a high end bike shop too (they're a premium Assos dealer too)...when you sign up for their riding club ($200 / year - most of it is OCA requirements w/ insurance) they give the jersey and bibs along with it. The store owners (store has been around 30 years) happily wear it.

Yea for that price, it's a risk I would take personally. I got the same if not similar bibs for $40 at a bike expo and they are my favorite. Granted, my gear isn't considered "high end."

Picked up the set today: $70 CAD + tax for the Jersey, bibs, and vest.

They are very comfy - didn't think I'd be a Small (usually a medium) - they are club fit.

I assume this is Racer Sportif as they are the shop in the area with Suarez kits. I ride with the club and rode that kit all season and it held up really well. The jerseys are ok but the bibs were great and for $29 they are a steal. Enjoy and think about joining the club next year. Fast rides with a great group!

I have a jersey (made by Suarez in Colombia) that one of the Marin sales reps in Arizona gave me several years ago. It's a bit of tight fit but it fits me like a glove when I'm in good shape. Very cool design and really comfy, too. It's one of my favorite jerseys.

Yup I've been speaking with Frank; definitely a possibility! $29 for the Jersey, $39 for the Bibs; and the vest was free I suppose!

Gotta love Bike Show specials!

**Not sure if this pricing applies any more; this was bike show pricing. The kit is listed on his site for $129.99 (Which is still a great price)
