Loose rattling noise only when riding out the seat.
Today a noticed a loose rattling noise coming from the bike only when riding off the saddle. But the moment I sit back on the seat, it stops. When I pull over and shake the bike violently I get no noise, the whole bike feels and sounds tight. I checked the seat, seat post, bottom bracket, chain rings, pedals, headset, spokes. When I stop peddling while off the seat, rattling stops.
Any clue what can be loose?
Thanks 41!

Cables. Noise can really be odd, and sound like it's coming from almost anywhere. Also, another potential odd location is helmet. Tension and jaw angle can produce odd noises, and it "sounds" like its coming from the bike. Valve stems in carbon wheels is another source. Rocking side to side when standing generates rattling sounds that usually aren't there when seated. Will be interested to see what real source is.

Ok i am just going to mention two random things, but one could think of a dozen more I guess.
-The ring on the valve. If it is loose, and the bike is shaking a little more because you are not sitting on it, it may create a rattling noise.
-The rear brake cable running underneath the top tube may by rattling against the frame. If the cable is too loose, even the little rubber rings banging against the frame can give an annoying noise.

Rear QR isn't tight enough.
But I like the butt plug suggestion.

BINGO! Thanks Cookiemonsta!
That was the problem! The nut was loose at the valve just a little and it was causing the rattle with the rim. I took the nut off and noise gone.
Thanks 41
P.S. I ALWAYS tighten my butt plug before each ride so I know that was not the problem. LOL!
