Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Planet X Wheels?

I have heard a good report about Planet X frames, but what about the wheels?

https://www.planet-x-usa.com/product-...i-2024-blk.htm

Are they good price/quality value?

These are fairing wheels so they are going to be heavier. However that said, the weight on the planet X's are comparable to other fairing wheels.

Fairing = Aluminum rim that is bonded to a carbon fairing.

I got planetx tubulars on my planetx TT bike I bought used. They seemed pretty good for the short amount of time I had them. They are just a branded wheel coming out of china, they are all about the same. Gonna get decent quality stuff.

Too many factors go into a wheel for one to really answer that IMO. Hub weight, rim weight, what your needs are...etc

I would say generally speaking though the average weight of a 50mm clincher comes in around 1550g give or take 150g.

That would be for full carbon clinchers. These are Aluminum / carbon fairing wheels.

Yea, Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL are roughly the same weight(~1750) and people rate those pretty highly for the aero benefits. My full carbon chinese clinchers 50mm were rated at 1500. There's some that are even lighter than that, but I wouldn't trust such a lightweight unbranded wheel.

Mavic CC SLR 52mm wheels with aluminum rims and CF fairings are 1595 gm. Zipp 303 are 45mm and 1475 gm. Roval CLX40 full CF clinchers are 40mm and 1396 gm. These are relatively expensive but give an idea of weights.
