I never get a flu shot.

I've just got some stomach bug. I could have went to work but I'm not sure if I would have survived the ride there. Once there, if I could have made it I could easily have stayed in the restroom the same as I have been here. :o

As much as I get sick I have to.

Still haven't decided on a new frame. If I do get one it will most likely be the Argon 18 Gallium. That is a fine looking frameset.

You'll dance on all our graves kid. Look, by the time you hit 50+ and you've had the flu as many times as I have, you stop getting it because you have probably developed a natural immunity to every known variant of the friggin disease.

I've got it maybe three times in the last decade. Thought about it this year with all the epidemic brouhaha, but I HTFU and went without it.

Helps that I don't come into contact with nearly as many people as some do.

Have you been getting medical training from coasting?

All of the men on my mom's side have died from heart attacks in their early 40's. Finding out that my heart only pumps 50% of the blood every beat doesn't make me feel any more confident. The good news is that I will be having echo cardiograms done every six months now. :D

That said, with that type of fracture, only athletes (or other people who understand how to deal with pain) do well because of how difficult the post op rehab is. Once I saw that they were able to reduce the fracture, I knew you'd do pretty well.

glad you did.

I had good care. Had I had it done at my wife's hospital the surgeon has been written up as the best in the field. I wasn't able to meet him right away though and I needed that particular comfort.

I'd do that TT again btw. Is just be sure to win it.

Hey my elbow is effed, but given what it could have been I'm lucky.

Oh heck no! Sounds like you've never experienced Floriduh. It's not just a couple of pesky black flies like in the mountains or woods, it's a blood-thirsty swarm. A swarm I tell you! Every-damn-where!!!

Where else but in Floriduh do you find a mosquito cage around every in-ground pool? Every. Single. One.

Ex is from Olean, and she told me they used to spray the town for mosquitoes. That's foreign to me, living in the high desert of Colorado. Big ol bugs and humidity is nonsense.

I wonder if you'd sing the same tune in the Boundary Waters. MN, in general, has some bad mosquitoes, but they take it up a several notches in the BWCA. When I'm up there, I stay in the tent at their prime times during dusk and dawn.

I dunno. I'm not saying that I am immune, and perhaps my exposure has been tame (I don't think so, but hey, maybe). Maybe I just taste bad to bugs. But I have hiked with swarms of them around me and it has never been a bad experience. And the Adirondacks is not just black flies, its mosquitos and horse flies and all sorts of bitey things.

Gary nailed it though. I definitely close up the tent so that I don't wake up with welts.

Olean where? There is an Olean in NY, but are there others? Spraying for mosquitos is pretty common in CNY and the southern tier, so it wouldn't surprise me.

EDIT: and it doesn't seem to help much.

I do not have screening over my pool, but I am on the east coast and near the ocean which tends to get fewer of the damn things. The worst blood suckers I have encounterednered were in New Zealand, those things could carry you off and suck you dry within 2 minutes.

rjones28 03-07-13 02:37 PM

The only bugs that bug us here are boxelder beetles. Lots and lots of boxelder beetles. But only in the winter, when they move into the house.

I am officially freaked. My average speed, on the other hand, 10.55.

Never had a flu shot. Maybe when I'm old and decrepit I'll get one.

Woah! Endomondo tells you how much you should have drunk on your rides now.

We get them too, they swarm my office on warm winter days and all spring (south facing side of the house). I get some entertainment out of them since one of my cats seems to think they're delicious.

Mosquitos do get some people worse than others. If I'm with Mr. TS they always go for him worse than me. I think he gives off more CO2 or something.

truckstop 03-07-13 03:07 PM

I could use some good road trip book recommendations. Doesn't have to be fluff, but nothing super heavy or that requires a lot of concentration while bouncing around in the back seat of a dually that smells a little bit like feet.
