I regularly spin out my 53/12. I'm old and use to be able to occasionally hit 50mph. Now I'm all done before I hit 40:-( I've never needed my 39/28. I say NEEDED not that I've never used it, just never needed a bail out gear. At 240lbs, if I push down on a pedal the bike will move forward.

Dear goodness! I've yet to hit 50 going downhill! [What's my problem? I'm old too! Maybe I need a 99 Klein instead of my '97? :D]
