Ah heck... back on cricket again. We did try. However, I HAVE done Anglesea to Warnie, and beyond to Halls Gap and beyond there to Moyston, and back again. I've probably covered more distance than you... How big was your skyrocket again? ahhhh a p!ssing contest!.....Anglesea to warnie?.....yeah, but what did you do after your warmup?......bloody Audax riders should get outta the way...s'pose you wore your yellow rain jacket on a cloudless 25deg day?....(well the rest of 'em do!) Ho hum, 6 bikes in the garage, and nothing needs fixin' or tinkerin'. Shall we discuss the best lube for derailleur jockey wheels? And what's with the ceramic bushing? Maybe Thylo knows. If not, he'll spout some convincing B.S., no doubt. :D
Oh, I always wanted to use this one - |

Hitchy EDIT: Sadly, there are some elements of truth to this. :) |
What do you guys make of this d!ckhead?
"Generally as a rule, I don't buy from any AMERICAN." "I treat people with as much respect as they deserve. Australian sights are for AUSTRALIAN SELLERS only, not your type." He just bought something else off me on ebay, and I recognised the email address. I thought I had banned him. I'll go fiddle while I decide what to do. |
Well, I've had some questionable experiences with non-paying Americans, but it wouldn't stop me from dealing with them if there is a rip-off (in my favour) in the wind.
More to the point... have you got his money? Restore his faith. Don't send the item. :) |

EDIT: Sadly, there are some elements of truth to this. :) I'd have more respect for audax folks if they raised the qualifying to something like 20kph....15kph?....fair dinkum, you could ride around the world & average that!...last years Alpine classic.....I got extremely 'lubed' the night before, got to bed at 4am, up at 5.30 for the 6.20am start......38 deg, 6 spews (I wish i was joking about that!)...2 hrs sleep under a tree & I still made the cut off by 45 mins...c'mon, 15kph is not a serious challenge! Hitchy So c'mon, Hitchy. I hear a 400 and 600 in the offing here. Then a full-blown 1200. You up for any some time next year? (45 minutes under 13 hours 30 mins for 200k? You MUST have been close to dead, man!) |

What's the difference between audax and randonneuring? I've managed to gather that they both involve long-distance cycling but are they just different names for the same thing?

mate...without a word of a lie....death woulda been a relief. I rode down to the start, (still p!ssed from the night before), got there & realized I'd neglected to pump up me tyres (I always reduce the pressure after each ride).....anyway, to cut a long story short......doing the Alpine in 38deg, pissed, wasn't one of my better ideas!.........but my point is....15kph...c'mon anyone can do that. 600kph, 1200kph, PBP.....no wucka's...when's the next PBP anyway?.....the missus is gunna let me go to France for the TDF, I doubt I'll be allowed (or could afford) to go again for PBP. you do that 'Great southern Randonee' thing?...that looks interesting! Hitchy |
The GSR is what I have been alluding to. 60mph southerly buster, 15 hours of constant rain. Strong tail and headwinds. Finished 17 minutes inside the limit. 5.5 hours sleep. And a heap of fun.
A guy on a mountain bike actually headed up the times. |

Randonneuring is simply long distance organised rides at the individuals' own pace. You can ride together, draft together, you can jump into other beds all day and night... or you can ride alone. Just so long as you come in under the maximum time allowed. The Audax philsophy can be layered over the randonneur one (ie, Audaxers ride in randonnees), but the reverse does not apply. If you get my drift. |
