This time last year it was in the 80's here.
Last march I was on my roadbike in short sleeve kit riding along. Pretty astonishing how warm it was. Funny I remember passing a very hot chick on a bike last year in March and remarked to her...it felt like summer. :) By contrast, it feels like f-ing January here...and no break out in sight...just gradual warming. Hoping for some mid 50 weather in April. |
I found spring!!! It's down here, on spring break.

Yea, I was gonna start another ranting thread about cold, but I will just rant in here !
It is getting to me. The cold. Day after day after day of getting up at 5 in the morning, psyching myself up, crack open the chemical warmers, gear up, ride, and come back with frozen frost bitten fingers and ice in my water bottle  I am mentally burnt out. Took pretty much the entire week off from riding. When will we be actually comfortable being outside on the bike ? Where is that 65 degree morning and 85 degree afternoons ??? But then on another note .. Do we really want warmer weather ? The hope .. The warmth ? Only to be slammed by cold again ? Or should the spring and summer just be cancelled, and move on to another hallowen and keep going on with winter ? !!!! - End of Rant and End of thread hijack !!! |
Wisconsin here; clear roads is what I'm praying for. As long as the sun's out the ice/snow will melt and milder temps will assist. Crashing in icy/snowy roads is no fun. Like many here I've learned to deal with the cold, but I'm anxiously waiting for milder temps and dressing with less layers.

It's been cold here too, but I can deal with cold. I rode outside all winter. What's killing me is that it's cold, cloudy, and the wind has been 15+mph every day for the past two weeks. I'll go on the group ride tomorrow morning, but every time I think about going out solo, I end up going to the gym instead :)

Year round spring over here.

I live in Southern California and I have to say that all you idiots bragging about our weather to these people in colder climates have no heart at all. My family lives in Manchester, England and I even resist telling them the truth about our fall and winter weather here. I feel for all you people waiting for the sunshine to get your bikes and warm weather gear back on the roads...almost there.

You know it is only March in the northern hemisphere ... it's not June yet. :)

Al Gore promised me warming and I want to hold him to it:) |

When I go fishing in June there will be 5-10 feet of ice piled on the shores. But that's pretty normal for the north. Then we will have two decent months before it starts freezing again.
Sounds like you really need to take a pt job to save some money to take a month in a warmer climate sometime between November and March. Doing that really helped me from going completely crazy when I lived in Canada. |
Visit Puerto Rico :D

I did wear my long riding pants 6-7 times this past "winter". The agony. |

Yeah, exactly ... so if there will still be some ice and snow in June, of course there's going to be ice and snow in March. :)

The cliche around here is "You don't like the weather? stick around, it'll change." Tomorrow we might see 45. Sunday they're calling for 6 to 10 inches of snow.

Not sure where spring is, but it definitely is not hiding in New Hampshire Pirk |
We’ve been about 15 deg. below normal for the last month. I was riding in 35 deg weather today, should be about 50.I always hated March because I think that it should be the beginning of spring; it’s really the end of winter.
I was beginning to feel sorry for myself until some of you reminded that there is a Canada. Summer will be nice, you just have to be in town that weekend. Scout camp had a mo-skeet activity – trap using 22s. Do Canadians have moskeeter shooting? I used to live in Minneapolis for about 5 years. Winters were about 6 weeks longer than what I was used to in Iowa. The saving grace was that there was enough snow to actually enjoy winter sports. X-C skiing, snow shoeing, broomball, etc. It didn’t surprise me to see inter-scholastic X-C skiing, but I still haven’t recovered from the shock of girls ice hockey. |

Spring is in full bloom here in AZ.
The aroma of orange blossoms fills the air I breath, and the desert is so green it looks like a fairway at Augusta. |

Dawn of the new ice age, actual spring weather will be around in a few thousand years.

My front derailure (Sram Red) came loose at 17 miles and binded up chain..........unclipped, jury rigged a fix to get home and took it off. I don't really use a frnt d for my rides anyway. COLD COLD COLD |
