Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone Have Experience with Williams Saddles?

I've been on a saddle search frenzie lately. I've tried four different Selle Italia's, and a couple of others. Basically, I want a saddle that has it all; comfort, width, light weight, a cut-out, and reasonable proced. I recently came across Williams' web site and found this:
https://www.williamscycling.com/Auror...ion_p_133.html

It seems to have it all! Just wondering if others have found it to be comfortable and if the weight is realistic.

Thanks!

Sorry no experience with their saddles, but I put a set of their wheels on my bike last summer and I absolutely love them. The company was easy to do business with and the product has held up beyond my expectations.

Well, they look nice. But your a@@ doesn't have eyes.

They also look very flat horizontally. I do better with a little kick in the back.

I ride charge spoon ti or Specialized Romin. You tried either? They are in this range, unless you want carbon rails (Romin pro is $200 or so)

Their saddle demo program, for $20, in my view is reasonable. I paid that amount to a local Specialized dealer just to test-ride a trial-saddle for a weekend (take out Saturday; return Monday). Williams' is for ten days! And you get $10 off towards the purchase price, if you do decide to buy.

I say give it a shot. I might do the same, though I am always wary of carbon-rail saddles.

Why is that?

Also, I don't understand having to pay to try. Performance Bike, Nashbar, and others offer a no questions asked return policy. That's how I tried so many Selle Italias, which I'm given up on because their shape just doesn't suit me. I'm 168 with a thin frame, but anything under 135mm wide is too narrow. Plus, every Selle Italia weighed much more than advertised. I think ideally I'd like a 140mm width and a 270mm length, and this Williams is pretty dang close at 143mm x 273mm.

The amount you are paying Williams, is in my view reasonable. My local Specialized dealer charged me $20 for a test saddle, which in my view was ridiculous, but I paid it. You would think they'll just let you try it out for free, but no. And I do not think Specialized charged them for those test saddles (with their garish colors) either. I take it they consider it the cost of labor of the salesperson who signed me up or whatever.

As for carbon-rail saddles, I am a bigger guy (210Ibs currently), and I just have a feeling that a carbon-rail saddle won't work as well for me as an alloy one, strength-wise. My current saddles are all Ti alloy railed.

Carbon railed saddles are very strong and just as durable now. No reason not to go carbon.

As for the Williams saddles they are accurate on weight. I actually have the Aurora SLC+ being delivered tomorrow. If it doesn't work out then the new Toupe design looks like a winner. It's a little more expensive than the Williams but not that big of a difference if it works. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb...ddles/toup-pro

Yeah, carbon is stronger than aluminum and titanium.

Cool find on the Toupe, but yeah, a bit expensive. The Williams is sounding like a winner. Please let me know how you like it when you get it.
