Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's Thundersnowing in Minneapolis

Seriously, WTF. It's snowing, could be 3-6 inches today. We got lucky because it was supposed to be another 4-6 inches last night but it rained instead. So now we have a layer of ice beneath the snow. It's ALSO thundering AND lightning right now. Never seen that before, this is just bizarre.

After a few gorgeous days in the 50s and nearly 60, this is rough. I had the bikes nearly tuned up and ready to ride and this just sucks. Didn't want to go back to the trainer, usually can count on mid-April as being fairly snow free.

That's my rant, just had to unbottle it a bit.

I am looking at the same thing and feel the same way, but I never plan on being outside until May 1, that way once I give up the trainer I don't have to look at it until November/December. Wonder what the Twins will do tomorrow?

Here in the sunny southern portion of the state, we just got a couple of inches of ice and snow last night and it's moving off. Unfortunately for you guys, it's heading North. I might ride with fenders late this afternoon.

The weather here in Chicago has been similarly delightful. Today it's 38 and absolutely pissing down rain.

Ya! It was snowing and then a bright yellow flash in the sky, I thought America was under attack or something! That is the first time I ever heard thunder during a snow storm. I am glad I went riding so many times when the weather was nice.

I have been known to bike-commute through some crazy minnesotan weather but I counted 22 cars in the ditch on my drive from West Saint Paul to Waconia today. I would hate to be hit by one of the thousands of idiots who don't understand that you have to drive differently after is snows. Be careful guys.

This totally sucks. My wife and I rode last Sunday and it wasn't too bad. Where's global warming when you need it? I'm seriously thinking about starting a bon fire out of polystyrene and chopping the catalytic converter off my Honda Civic.

Actually some are saying this a result of global warming. Something about Greenland not being as cold as it should be and effing up the jet stream. Pushing the aritc air south when it shouldnt be. Could be the new norm, just sayin...

Yeah...really sux. My bike mileage is way down this year. Barely ridden my bike because the weather has been so lousy.
Forecast moving forward isn't very encouraging either...lots of rain. Maybe I need to buy a boat.

The first time I heard of thundersnow was this winter and the first thing I thought was that "thundersnow" would be a good band name...

I put the trainer away 2 weeks ago and last night had to mount the bike on it again. That SUCKED. Going back on that thing after 5 or 6 rides was awful. Next time I won't let myself be seduced by the she-devil that is Mother Nature.

Cheers!

They always have some explanation....and they get more comical.

I was in the Twin Cities Monday and Tuesday on business. It was raining and sleeting when I flew out. Got home to 80 degrees.

Yeah, it's almost like they're using science to understand the world, what a joke.
