Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

35 degrees Fahrenheit is no big deal for my friends in MT or MN, but I'd whimp out.

On the other hand, 115 degrees doesn't bother me at all.

Honestly, I love cycling when it's over 100 degrees because all the snowbirds are back where they belong, an the locals give you respect for not being a whimp about the heat.

100-105 doesn't bother me but when you start going into 110+, any sort of 3+ mile climb starts to get painful real quick. Would prefer 85 and sunny. 110 is still better than 35 though, because at least your limbs aren't freezing to death.

I was once bitten by one when I drove really close and tried to push him on the back of the butt to make him go faster.

He tried to unclip so he could jump inside the car and eat me alive but his cleats were frozen to the pedals...I was saved by the cold~

I totally agree about the heat. Starting rides at 110+ can be tough, but once you get moving it's NBD. Slow climbs at 100+ are tough, but I love that kind of suffering.

To me it feels great to sweat like a stuck pig. It's way better than shivering.

You should come out. Lots of Russian speakers have settled in the last 20 years. Russians, Ukrainians, even some Kazakhs.

Ya know, there's a bumper sticker that says "A bad day fishing is better than a good day working." And that's how it is riding in the cold or wet, not as much fun, but better than working.

85? Seriously? That's hot. The perfect temperature for riding is around 55-65

Sorry, I like riding in all weather. Riding for 7 hours in the rain and cold IS fun in a different way.
