Why do all of the top of the line grupos look so ugly? SRAM Red is ugly. Shimano Dura Ace is ugly. None of these cranksets would look good on a beautiful steel frame IMO, like Cielo/Co-Motion. Seems like these are designed primarily for carbon bikes.
The Campy Records look nice, not as space-age looking. The Athenas look amazing on steel frameshttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=317206 While we're waiting let me say I am building up my repainted steel Romic with Rival whenever I get the frame back (which right now is anybody's guess). Carbon wheels. All for grins. We will see how ugly it is. It is too bad I am not a Campy cultist. How much easier life would be! No decisions. All would be pre-determined. Alas. Now where did I put that Kool-Aid?;) Robert |
One of my juniors snapped the paddle off of a Rival rear shifter last weekend, so I ordered a Force with zero-loss off Amazon; it showed up eighteen hours later! (gotta love Amazon free ship). Anyway, the zero-loss sure does make a difference. Shifting is actually crisper and faster.
And as a bonus, I dropped the broken one off at the LBS who was able to get SRAM to replace it, so we'll have a spare in case another one breaks. We won't have to wait to replace it, since that's a ten-minute job. |
