Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fork(ed)

I have a 2007 Felt F1 bought from Slipstream back when they switched to Cervelo sponsorship and I have damaged one of the fork dropouts (I am too embarrassed to say how… believe me it was dumb).

I need to replace the fork and I am looking for recommendations for brand model etc. I don’t race (too old and slow) but I do like to ride hard and want to retain the great handling of the bike. I had no issues with the factory set up but was curious what folks think I should consider as a replacement.

Thanks for any advice.

You could probably contact Felt and get a replacement of the same fork (probably won't have the Slipstream graphics, though).

Otherwise, ENVE forks seem to be the big thing right now.

How did you damage the fork dropout.

If you want the same handling, replace it with the OEM fork if it's still available.

If it's not, make sure you get a fork with the same crown height, and same rake. Changing either will change the handling of the bike.

If I were you, I'll call Felt and get the rake as merlin said, and that now opens up a lot of possibilities with different fork manufacturers. The crown height you can easily measure yourself.

I always get the rake of forks on my bikes from technical depts so as to be prepared for eventualities like these.

Well lets say wisdom does not always come with age and even checking twice is sometimes not enough (that's all I am allowed to say...)

Jed and Merlin thanks - I reached out to Felt and will start with that info. Best, Keith

Sounds like a roof rack incident.

Yep, I got to watch someone drive into a parking garage with my Trek on their roof. All it cost me was a carbon fiber seat post.
