I noticed the red version is "shinier". The black one is described as "Carbon satin" and has a matte surface. Does this layer of clear coat matter from the durability perspective?
Rather torn between the two colors. The red is really hot, but the understated black is really really nice too.

This is my problem... I got sick of matte black a decade ago when I was a car geek and everyone said every car would "look sick murdered out". The colorful versions of most bikes, though, don't look very good to me. I agree, the red is too much, so I'd hold my nose and go for the matte black.

^ Not sure how that frame is finished, but matte black in a nude carbon finish can save 100 grams or more.

I have a matte black frame and I really wish it had glossy paint on it. It would be much cleaner looking all the time, and easier to clean when I was inclined to do so.
I'm tired of the matte black "stealth" look - it's getting old.

The black and red don't look the best directly next to each other...they almost seem to clash. The different accents on the bike also look a bit cheap. The white tape is a little awkward, too (I don't know if you plan on swapping though).
I really like the red frame. The white highlights lighten up the color but not too much as to pull away from the bold red. The black "SPECIALIZED" looks pretty slick too, along with the other black accents scattered throughout (especially on the inner fork...that looks sexy). As for the black tape, that completes it for me.
