Good club ride today.

We went over an old fashioned wooden covered bridge, but the pace did not allow me time to take a picture.

Whoa, there better not be one of these along the way, or you'll be shelling out a fine

According to Wikipedia, who we will accept as the authority, the purpose is to protect the bridge from the weather.

...

In the 1800's covered bridges were practical due to the abundance of virgin timber and were covered to protect the floorboards. Another reason the bridges were covered is the fact that the horsed did not like to cross the open bridges where they could see and hear the rushing water. The bridges were covered and, you will notice, the entrances look like that of a barn. The horses would enter willingly.

Hey, if the new roof is too expensive, you can always move in under one of those bridges.

I would rather live in a van down by the river, than on a bridge over the river.

hi folks...long time no see...

While it makes sense that some don't mind, many even, the simple fact is that the dynamic is that hot button topics like these tend to derail threads into senseless and unresolvable bickering. One side isn't going to convince the other, and it goes back and forth. In an effort to avoid such things, and the inevitable reports and cleaning up that follows, topics regrettably end up off limits. Is it good? Probably not. But so it goes. We live in an imperfect world, and this is an even more imperfect group of people on an even more imperfect message board. And this ends up being the easiest solution. It's not really that uncommon an answer to a common problem on message boards. Most boards I've been part of have had similar rules on a variety of topics. So please respect it. There's plenty of other stuff to talk about.

Can we still talk about Amiga?

Thank you! Exactly. On the one hand, I'm happy discussing the topic in general, but it wrecks this thread for a week and I'd really rather chat bridges, girls, health, birds, racing, and whatever else comes up. Not everyone bickering endlessly.

People take forums way too seriously. I joke about the Lady Vol softball team being "bridesmaids," and it gets folks bent out of shape.

I've often wondered about the red reflector, reckon the bag is made for use with slotted saddles, not bars.
