Oh, there's a shock. It's almost as if Wall Street and the banking industry have too much influence over our politicians.

This micro 4/3 system of cameras is the best. I've been walking around manhattan in a pair of cargo shorts with 3 lenses (17mm 1.8, 75mm 1.8, and a 12-50 3.5-6.3) no camera bag very comfortably. The images are great because the glass is so good. Why didn't I do this sooner?

Wait a sec. Are you saying we shouldn't trust our government?

That's my plan if triathlon ever leaves budget room to get another toy.

Which camera is this? I just ordered the new more compact rebel body (SL 1), most compact full featured system DSLR to date. I'm an EOS guy for a long time. We use it a lot for work. SL1 on the left below.

Trust is a moving target.

RUOkie 06-01-13 10:29 AM

I have the Olympus OMD. I have a Nikon SLR. The Olympus is a totally different system made more for travel. More of a cross between a p&s and an slr. Everything is smaller so the sensor size is 1/2 of the size of a DSLR. So the crop factor is doubled (the 17mm lens I used is more like a 35mm for your canon.)

I'm not so sure about your arithmetic on that, the APS-C sensors in most DSLRs require you to add a 1.5+ magnification factor, so the effective focal length of a 50mm lens on my Rebel DSLRs is 75mm (i.e., it would be 50mm on a 35mm film camera or full frame digital SLR, but it's a 75mm on most moderately priced DSLR cameras). You can buy full frame DSLRs that preserve the focal length, but those camera bodies start at about $2K, and the one you want from Canon starts @ $3K+. I'm very happy with the results I get from my APS-C Rebel cameras, ample image quality either our work or my amateur photography hobby pursuits.

i have a rebel as well, really like the light weight body.

RUOkie 06-01-13 10:40 AM

Look up micro 4/3 pcad. You will see. These cameras are really small for what they do. Sorta like modern day Leica's. without the Leica price tag

LesterOfPuppets 06-01-13 10:43 AM

I miss my epl1 greatly. Think I'll grab an epl2 here this week.

Bah Humbug 06-01-13 11:15 AM

Just ordered that scale. I'm sure you're all excited.

Or maybe our corporate overlords?

Clouds rolling in again. Some sprinkles looking like the start of something really wet. Got a good 44 miles in before the weather turned, though.

halfspeed 06-01-13 11:29 AM

I did get snubbed by a fred on my ride this morning. Maybe I should start a butt hurt thread about how he didn't wave at me.

You should definitely do that. This place is too quiet today. People must actually be out riding. WTF.

WhyFi 06-01-13 12:02 PM

Morning project done. We now have a kiddie table for my boy's bday party this afternoon.

There's so many good cameras around now, all that's required is a little patience to keep looking around until you find something that suits you.

Much like shopping for a bike, they're all good, it's just a matter of what features you want.
