The NYC totalitarian regime has sentenced its citizens to Death by Bicycle.

in my daydreaming of doing some motorbike touring, i started coveting the Lumix DMC-LX5. i want to replace my dslr first.

pics will come once I get home and do some cropping etc. in Lightroom. I don't have LR on my laptop (that needs to be rectified quickly)

and btw. I saw 2 BikeShare stations during my walking today. They look really cool, and are being used. "the majority of New Yorkers" seemed to either not care, or were excited by the idea.

Best of luck gentlemen . . . and Pcad.

Thanks Folks!

I survived the 45+4 and the 35+4 2.5 mile office park circuit race. First one, lots of wrecks that never completely finished. I need to work on surfing to the front, then keeping my position. Second one, surge-y, speedy, and I'm certain I was the oldest racer by a large margin. It was fun.

How does a race not completely finish?

LAJ 06-01-13 02:38 PM

Thanks RUOkie.

Bah Humbug, the wrecks never quite came to fruition. Everything happened but the actual hitting of the ground. Cat 4, 9 corners=scary stuff.

Oh Well, good no one went down. Isn't that how the 4s and 5s usually go?

No. Usually someone goes down.

I agree it's good no one went down. I always thought the 45+ guys would have a little more sense, but I was way off the mark. I honestly think many have absolutely no pack, or group riding experience. They ride the race like they are all by themselves, or hit the brakes every single corner, or are so tentative, they are a hazard. I pre-rode this course, and figured it was so wide open I could take my brakes off. The first corner changed that thought completely. I'm always happy I survive.

I keep learning. We'll see if I took anything from today for the tomfoolery tomorrow.

Oh, I just meant lots of swerviness and issues. I'm aware someone usually goes down. One of the reasons I love triathlon. I get a nice buffer between me and everyone else.

I have seen the swim portion of those things. I think I'll take the 30 mph 90 degree corners, thank you.

Worst you get out in the water is an errant elbow or knee. And besides, if you're fast (by which I mean, mediocre) you just get out in front of the melee. Can't do that in a bike race. If I did one, I'd go down and take down half a dozen others. And be told to stay away.

So, triathlon.

LAJ 06-01-13 03:25 PM

Understood. It sure looked like a blender in those things.

Sad, really, because building FTP is so delightfully clinical compared to swimming and running.

Bah Humbug 06-01-13 03:26 PM

And, on that note, off to hit the trails.

Bah Humbug 06-01-13 04:45 PM

Wow that sucked.

LowCel 06-01-13 04:58 PM

Hotter than hell out there, figured it was a good day to wash and wax the car.

Bah Humbug 06-01-13 05:02 PM

I got fried out there, had no energy, and was just cooked.

Now enjoying a giant pitcher of smoothie after a cold shower.

I hate when that happens on a run though; makes me worry I'm losing my ability to run.

LesterOfPuppets 06-01-13 05:02 PM

keep it in the shade for the waxing!
