Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah I think it's worth it as long as it isn't abused and the wheels are decent and in true. It's a nice 9 speed STI bike with all shimano components (ultegra mostly). You can't do much better for $400 imho. A new bike for $400 you can't even get a crappy sora bike with awful wheels, no name brakes, etc..

The ride might be a little rough without a carbon fork and frame but it's not too bad and a set of 25mm tires if they'll fit will make it ride better. I bought a caad5 just like that for around the same price but it had some really nice wheels and I feel I got a great deal. The one I got is SUPER light for it's time. I want to say it was under 18 pounds without pedals and light 15XX gram wheels. Don't tell anyone but you'll be just as fast as you would be on a $4000+ bike with that CAAD.

edit: it also looks like an ex team bike, so it was probably ridden A LOT so check for components that are on their way out like the sti's, wheels, derailleurs, etc..

Don't seem like too bad a deal if it's really nice.

I bought one 2 years ago, a 2003 version. Paid $500. It was in almost new condition so it was a great buy. The bike is a nice bike - although a little stiffer and slightly heavier than my current Caad 8's. The $400 "may" be a good buy depending on the condition and amount of wear on the components.

Considering that you can get a brand new bike for $499 that comes with life time adjustments from performance bikes, this is definitely not a good deal. The bike looks to be at least 10 yrs old. I wouldn't pay more than..... one fiddy for it.

I can't tell if you're joking.

$150 would be about right for some mid-grade chromo downtube-shift Centurion from the 80's. $400 is a decent price for this bike, provided it's not worn out. Do some negotiating, get it for $350.

I'd say you could probably get him down to 300...
But if that's the bike you really want, would you question the price?
offer what you think is fair.

I could sell just the shifters off that bike for $150.
