Anyone have any input on the Guru Dynamic fitting system? I've never had a proper bike fit before and was given a certificate for one for Father's Day. I haven't been able to find many reviews online either. Thanks!

It's really neat! I went through the process once and found it fascinating. The bars and saddle could be moved into any position while I rode to check power output and comfort level. At each spot I liked a "snapshot" of the position would be taken. Once we found a handful of positions (including my original position), each were revisited in order to determine my favorite. Strangely enough, I ended up back at my starting place. Well, maybe not so strange. I was well fit before I went in. This was part of the process for ordering a Guru.

It's much better combined with Retul.

That depends on the skill of the fitter....

I think the idea is great, but the dynamic fit bike is only a tool. The key is to work with an experienced fitter. With an experienced fitter you can get great results with any of the major systems Guru, retul, specialized BG......

I havent had a guru fitting, but have had retul and specialized BG fits. I would agree that a guru dynamic fit would be better with retul. My BG fit was pretty good, but the measurements of all the angles were much more precise with retul.

Yep, I agree the measurement of angles were more precise with Retul for mine. The main advantage of the Guru system is the adjustments are made while you are riding. There's no stopping and power measurements are assessed immediately as changes are made.

It's also possible that you favored what you were accustomed to and what your body was adapted to. It is possible that a different fit could be even better than the original one given time to adapt and become accustomed to it.

It's possible, on the other hand, any deviation causes knee pain. I have a lot of damage to the cartilage in both my knees and em extremely sensitive to position. Also, my original position had the highest power output of all the positions I tried. But as I said, I was well fit before I went in. I wasn't going in for a fit, I was going in to determine the geometry for a frameset order.

I'm on the fence - not sure if it benefited or if I just bought a bike fit and a new stem. I declined to get the carbon setpost! I'll keep trying the new settings for a few more weeks.

Both my wife and I had Guru bike fits at the beginning of the season. Not much change in my setup a few mm here and there. However for my wife they changed the fit to a more aggressive riding position and now she's a happy camper! More comfortable, less knee strain, more power. It was a good experience for us. I'd certainly recommend the Guru fit. Being able to "feel" the change in geometry while riding was amazing.
