Brand Loyalty? Do you have it?
I am in the market for two new bikes. One will be a TT/Tri bike the other a new Mt bike. I sold my tri bike last year and I am riding an old Gary Fisher 26" Hardtail. I like the bike very much but well Gary is no longer in business and the Tri bike was a C-dale one of a few I owned over the years. My current steed is a Carbon Bianchi which I love.
That being said I would not mind getting matching bikes all new Bianchi's but all I want is the best deal, most value for the buck. Frame material, the groupo or brand I care not about. Does that make me a Lunatic??

No. I care about the material, but I am totally open to whatever brand impresses me on a test-ride. And group? Always Shimano. Why? I have never had a Shimano component fail on me in all my many years of cycling experience. So, I guess I am somehow loyal to Shimano, as a brand.

I said this previously in a thread (the one concerning whether the OP would buy two bikes of the same brand).
I have always rode MTB (since I was 4!) and my first bike was a Spesh, since then, the only bike I've bought that wasn't a Spesh, was my track bike (I don't like the Langsters geometry).
The majority of my gear (lids, saddle packs, shoes, gloves and three jerseys (of five)) are all Spesh. Most likely because I'm yet to be disappointed by a Spesh product (be it clothing or bike), and the local Concept Store know me, and give a nice little discount at the till.
So yeah, I have brand loyalty - to my local store's manager as well as the brand though.

Only brand loyalty issue has been staying with Shimano/SRAM for wheel compatability.

I went from one Cannondale to another. I tried out some other bikes but really never liked anything over the SS. Stayed Shimano as well because I tested SRAM and couldn't figure out how to shift the front rings (could've just been a horribly adjusted front derailleur or just apex) so I swore off SRAM. Even though I liked the feel of the rear shifts.

Keep on climbing
I have brand loyalty to the tires I run... Vredestein TriComp Fortezza's. They work for me. Everything else? I have one bike with Campagnolo components and one with Shimano components. One's a Cannondale, one's a Calfee. I think the only thing in common between them is the tires.

I was very loyal to Eddy Merckx but it's no longer the same brand.

Yeah, it only takes one look at my signature to realise the exact company I'm talking about. Nowadays I can't go for a ride without seeing another Specialized; I thought it went without saying.
Although, if it was for the humour aspect, I guess my British-ness didn't quite understand.

There are bike companies that I admire, but I will always go for the deals. It's in my nature.
That said, I wave the flag Cervelo for the most part. Looking forward to the RCA trickling down its tech into the R series next year. If that doesn't happen, I'll probably end up on a budget carbon Felt

Felt Z5, Felt Edict Nine, Felt Nine Race. Felt won me over with their warranty and customer service.

I have no brand loyalty but there are some brands I won't buy in their current form. I'd like a nice looking bike that also functional but more important, I have more affinity towards a good relationship with staff at a bike shop. I'm more interested in good service, reasonable discounts and unbiased advice.
I'm more likely to buy a bike from my favourite bike shop if the price is OK.

That's funny because it is not, rather than no.
I presumed it was just another funny american thing at the time (the way dude was spelt) I mean you Americans are odd creatures, I mean you were pants as the top layer of your clothing, goh everyone knows pants are underwear.
Haha

Descends like a rock
I love my bikes and I love other bikes from the same brands, but if I were to buy another bike, it probably would be something completely different.

Do you do all the maintenance to your bike yourself? If so, then this won't apply.
I'd rather buy from a shop based on their after-purchase policies. Do they have free tune-ups, how much do they charge for other maintenance issues? Where is the shop located--I don't want to drive across town to drop off/pick up my bike.
I bought a Specialized from an area shop that now has 4 locations, one is 2 miles from home. Twice while out riding, I noticed shifting issues, and was able to swing by the shop on my way home, they made some quick adjustments while I waited, and didn't charge me anything. They have free basic tune-ups as long as I own the bike, and $30 for a pro-tune (where they degrease the chain, rear cassette, clean up all the gunk off the bike, etc).
Once when I got a flat, I stopped by to get a couple of new tubes on my way home. The guys who work there (well there was a gal but she left a while ago), know me, know how I ride, know what I want, and they'll let me know when there's sales or other things I may be interested in.
For me it is much more about service. But since bike shops tend to only carry 1-2 brands, I guess it makes me loyal to Specialized. As long as I live here, that is.
