And I don't think what you do in the event of crashing a racing motorcycle necessarily indicates that you should do the same thing if you fall off a road bike, given that motorcycling safety gear provides far more protection to your face, head and spine than does a bike helmet. You can way more easily afford to ignore the instinct to put your arms out if you can rely on protective gear to take the brunt.
