Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized 2014 Catalog Is Now Live

For you fanboys, the latest stuff is now on the website.

https://www.specialized.com

Nothing too crazy for us roadies. Everything has completely gone the way of the 11spd now for the ultegra and force stuff. No s-works Allez as it was rumored. Probably the coolest thing on there is their partnership with Ohlins for the MTB suspension, that's a neat one for motorsport nerds.

I am pleased to see some unique colored framesets as well but yes, nothing groundbreaking.

Pricing is on the website for most of the road bikes. It is missing from the Roubaix Di2 Disc.

Previously I had wanted the '13 Comp, but since they were sold out of those in my size and the '14 Comp has Tiagra components ('13 had 105) I've been considering the '14 Race once my LBS can get one.

Any inputs on this choice?

Also, I can see prices just fine on everything I've looked at.

There is an Allez S Works. I held the frame in my hands.

I predict another $100 hike in the cost of Allez framesets for the 4th year in a row I believe.

Bikes: 2013 Allez, 2013 Sirrus, 1984 Legend Compe

New colors and designs are ugly, anything to justify a ridiculous price hike I guess.

agree with both of you guy's this is insane. The cost of an aluminum frame with Sora will soon be over a grand. My local Spec dealers sells at MSRP to boot. The online market for bikes will continue to increase.

Interesting that other than the Sora version I didn't see anything with Shimano's new discs, maybe they're not ready yet.

I've seen a few LBS drop Specialized in the last couple of years... I can see why.

Meh, maybe one or two different colorways but a whole lot more of the same old thing. I'm pretty tired of the blacked out look. The odds of me spending 8k on a bike are pretty damn slim too. Add 2k if you want the fancy electronic shifting. Wow.

$1350 for the Comp -- E5 Smartweld frame with 10sp Tiagra -- sounds about right. My 2011 E5 w/9sp Tiagra was $1250 list.

I haven't seen any signs of Specialized slowing down.

They lowered the price on S-Works Venge by $1500 from last year.

that's pretty good! That one you called ugly is the one I want badly or the Pro with the more traditional white, red, black combo. I'd get that frame put in some SRAM red, mad wheels, zipp stem, handlebars, fizik saddle and off I go with my dream bike... can't afford that though and the Pro is probably a better and a more realistic buy.

looks like even "low end" spesh carbon is still SL4 spec, that's kinda nice, I was considering an SL4 2013 but they were simply outta my price range, a 105 SL4 is attractive to me. the s-works frameset in orange/black looks good to me as well. also like the roubaix elite, I'll be on the test rides this spring for a new bike so they will get a serious look. will also considering the Rival versions as well

Maybe they can take the Orica Green Edge team to court over the colors of that frame matching their kit.

I was tempted to go the "normal" color scheme route then decided to say screw it and got the annoying colored tarmac... which should be here any day now.
