Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you're talking about this bike, https://www.bianchiusa.com/archives/0...-105-mix-comp/, then less than 1/2 new (and negotiable at that) isn't bad on a low mileage bike. So the deal looks good. Is this the bike she needs? I think that's the real question. What is the intended use of the bike? If you are looking for a straight out road bike, this is a good choice at a decent price.

Looks like a marginal deal to me. This is 9 speed 105, which makes the bike at least 6 years old, and up to 12 years old.

And the "no more than 80 miles" is bullsh*t, unless the guy has very dirty hands, judgin by the bar tape.

That's not 9 speed, nor is it over 5 years old. But I'm sure you're right about the mileage.

Listing says 18 speed compact. I was basing my comment on that, and the years that 9 speed 105 was sold.

Reading further down, I see it says it has a 10 speed 105 cassette, so the description seems a bit messed up.

If it's 10 speed, its newer, and the price seems more reasonable.

I'd be a little suspect still given the appearance of the bar tape (after 80 miles) and the misdiscription.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy it, but I'd look it over carefully for exactly what it is, and the condition it's in.

Run your fingers along the downtube and toptube; particularly the first 5-6 inches near the headtube. If you feel any kind of bump, the bike has been in a head-on collision of some sort. Sometimes you can't see it, but you can feel it.
