Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Five five five five

after today's ride I looked at the ride statistics on the computer and the altitude number caught my eye.
and today is March 5th '05.. and the ride was 53 miles.. I should have taken the long way home and get it to 55 miles..

5555 feet in 53 miles is pretty darn good. All these 5's lining up is far to much of a coincidence, something evil is lining up in your karma. Better get out now.

I'll be happy to take good care of that Eisentraut until this phenomena passes. But I hear it can last a good long time and can't be exorcised very easily...

Unfortunately, all those fives has a much deeper numerological meaning.

You will not likely make the big 6!!! ;-)

Cheers!!!

When I originally got it I tested it on a known hill (Old La Honda) and it reported the exact altitude I saw in some descriptions of that climb.
The Vetta also has a % grade measurement, and it works while you ride. It is also as accurate as the reported grades.

I like the Altitude function of the Vetta, but I do not like the speed/cadence and the way the wireless was implemented. The speed or cadence update on the display every second (or longer if you ride slow), Also, if you stop somewhere for more then a few (4? 5?) minutes it goes to sleep and you need to press a button to wake it up..

Hey Sorebutt, you live in Sunnyvale?

I lived there for a year and a half when I was a kid. I spent 6th grade at Bishop Elementary, had Mrs. Delenikos, and 1 semester at Sunnyvale Junior High, that place was more brutal than high school.
