Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aftermarket cadence magnet

Does anyone have any experience with the "hidden" cadence magnets sold on eBay that attach to the inside end of the peddle axle?

I have a Cateye Strada Double Wireless computer. Supposedly they are compatible and it seems that a magnet is a magnet is a magnet but I don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work. Below are links for two that I am looking at.

I bought that first one you linked to. It did work better than the one that came with my Garmin, which was attached with a zip tie. I've had the magnet on the back of the crank arm for at least 5,000 miles and it's still attached.

They go on the PEDAL spindle. And yes, they work. A magnet is pretty much a magnet for this purpose. I use one on my cx bike and it's never come off.

They work fine. But you can get one cheaper and faster at your local big box hardware store.

I bought mine at Lee Valley ($0.36 - $0.58 each). I can't remember whether I used the 1/4" or the 3/8" one.

Works really well.

These should work too. Plus they're fun to play with and won't slide off the fridge.

The 1/2" x 1/8" Neodymium magnets are all I've used on my bikes for years.
They never come off accidentally.
Just put on as many as needed to bring the stack close enough to the sensor.

With all the "yes" responses you should know they will work. I have been using the same magnet for three years and over 16,000 miles and it only comes off when I remove it for pedal maintenance.

They don't stick to titanium spindles, so I have a piece of heavy duty clear tape over the top... still works fine...

Flip it over so the magnetic field will push you forward as you cross the manhole.

That only works if the manhole cover is magnetized.
