Feeling like a wimp because I rode with the "C" group this morning.
Argh...I'm a solid "B" rider, but I woke up a 2:30 and had trouble getting back to sleep...just felt listless and lethargic this morning, so instead of rolling with the B's I hung with the C's. Now I feel like I didn't get a good workout or push to my full potential because it was such an easy ride.
I suppose everyone has those kind of days, though....

Nah. You adjusted your ride according to how your body felt. Smart. I would wager that a lot of people wouldn't have gone at all OR would have still gone with group B. If you would have gone with the B group, I would imagine you would have been even more embarrassed since you would probably be the last one up each hill.

What a ridiculous thing to complain about. Be glad you're alive and healthy, man!

It's amazing how a good night's sleep versus a night of insomnia will affect your physical abilities as you age. When I was in my younger years (I'm 56 now) I'd go on ski trips with my friends, and we'd party until the wee hours of the morning, get a few hours of sleep, ski hard all day and resume partying that night. I can't imagine doing that today. Same with cycling. If I toss and turn all night, I feel sluggish on the bike.

You've got it backwards. You don't feel like a wimp, because you rode with the Cs. You rode with the Cs, because you felt like a wimp. Don't reverse the cause and the effect.
