Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wanna see this cracked frame

was it user error?

It's a steel 2004 Cervelo Superprodigy

Update, 4th June, in case anyone cares

I'm pretty happy with the repair that i finally had done. I was expecting a big ugly weld beads, and I wasn't expecting it to be repainted. All for about 40 bucks US.

My dog said it was my fault

my steel bridgestone did the same exact thing... from not having enough length of seatpost in there and grinding it out in the saddle?!

I asked on another thread if this was the bike that had the ticking sound you posted about. Someone stepped in and bashed me up for suggesting it.

Is it the bike that had the ticking or not?

The post may have been the right size, but did it fit well. Posts should slide in like a piston with no wobble.

you should be asleep, Aussie!! It's 12:52am

Same bike.

I think that "tick" could've been the shoes (it's happening on my old 531), but I'm too embarassed to admit it to Expat.

Nah, don't be embarrassed. Just post something on the other thread so all the other pseudo-experts like me can rest easy... or

... have you checked the other 531 for the same sort of crack. Said crack on the Cervelo may be causing the tick.

Incidentally, the shoes aren't the new white ones?

Oi, a little care with your posts, thanks very much. I'm a svelte 85 kg like 531 and proud of it!*

But 80kg would look more impressive on the CV, and I might get up hills a bit quicker.

The dog looks suspicious. Does he have his own set of tools?
