Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just scored a Giant Perigee for my wife at Goodwill !

Well, looking and deciding on getting my wife a road bike - all the sudden a nice road bike was sitting at the local Goodwill. Giant Perigee. Nice components, my wife appeared to fit while sitting on it. The best thing - if she hates road biking, it only cost me $15. Hey, it even came with a computer and bottle cage!

Yeah, I was rather excited about it. Got my wife upset when I couldnt understand why she didnt want to jump right on when we got it home and ride it all around - so I did. The shifting is very smooth, just alittle tweaking and I think its ready to go.

Why didn't she want to jump right on it??? Sounds like a very sweet deal to me if it fits her.

She is not exactly as excited about road biking as Iam. But she is open to trying it. We get so caught up with our young kids, that this might be a great break for both of us. My wife tends to get overwhelmed, and I think she needs some encouragement to get out and get some exercise. Also, her best friend road bikes - so Im going to get her hooked up with her.

nikos,
dude youre way to lucky you can ride the bike would your wifey, My wife doesn't know how to ride, I have tried teaching her, several times, to no avail, and I give up, wish, and if I have one wish that will be granted, I wish my wife knows how to ride the bike then we can really enjoy the great outdoor together....

Well, Im not out of the woods just yet. My wife is new to road bikes and might end up hating it. On the other hand, she might really enjoy it. The one thing in my favor is that we have a great bike path that is right in our area that goes for miles, great smooth pavement.
