Las Vegas Cycling Help
Hello all,
I'm going to be in Vegas from the 19th through 25th of this month, and as part of the trip, I'd like to ride the Red Rock Canyon area. I've looked into Las Vegas Cyclery and their rental program, and it looks like there are two options. You can either just rent a bike, or take their tour of the area for a substantial amount more ($89 versus $35 for just the bike rental) and the longest tour is only like 30 miles. I'd like to go out there and ride 60+, so I guess the question I have is, can you ride out to the Red Rock area from town. I'm thinking of just renting the bike and then riding out to Red Rocks and back. Does this sound feasible? It looks like it's about 20 miles or so from the shop to the park, but I don't know how busy the roads are getting there. Are there any other bicycle shops I should look at as far as rental goes? I'm planning on bringing my pedals and having them put those on so I can use my shoes, since the rental comes with toe clips. Do you think they'd be willing to put them on for me? Any other things I should know about riding around the Las Vegas/Red Rocks area?
Thanks,
Jaco
