This DIY bike stand works great if you have the room. I built mine to hold 8 bikes which still leaves some bikes leaning against the wall. It is made with 2x4s and 1x6s.

Nashbar has a nice simple stand for $60: https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...54_-1___202605
It's the same as the Thule one posted above - just $100 cheaper.

there's a similar stand at our local performance bike shop, but it's on sale for $75 9reg price $99), and I'm sure it's the same it just looks cheaper though. So I'd like to get the Nashbar one, but am waiting for the prime time to buy.
(yes, i'm a cheapskate)

I would give them a call and ask if you can get refunded your shipping cost and apply the promo since it was by one day. Because otherwise, bummer, dude.

I drive my carbon bike around on a trunk bike rack, supported by the top tube. So do about a million other people.

According to web sites like this one, it looks to me like Thule thinks that if they slap their logo on something, that means it's worth 2x as much? I always thought Thule was over-priced (I have several of their kayak racks), and now I know they are over-priced!

I just use this product:
https://www.amazon.com/Racor-PBS-2R-T...ds=2+bike+rack
Keeps the bikes from leaning against my wall, and keeps them apart from each other, while keeping them close enough to save some space.
Not sure if any of these different configurations I see above, or how the item here saves any more space than any other. Having bikes vertically against a wall just looks odd to me, indoors at least, and again, not sure if it saves much space compared to this.
Edit: of course those which are "towers" keeping a set of bikes elevated above the others surely saves space lol. But if only 2 bikes, I'll just take this $30 product.

I guess it's a good thing Performance has such a large online following because if all their stores are like the one I went to, I wouldn't see many people constantly lauding them as much as they do.

Ooh, question though about the Nashbar / XPORT rack for anyone that owns one already...
Are there holes on the back side of the vertical bars that the hand screws go into? Or is it just clamp tension? I ask because you can get "short" arms/bars (https://www.performancebike.com/bikes...551_1023859_-1) and I am thinking if it is just clamp tension I may add those but to the back side of the stand so a bike can be stored between the rack and the wall (since it's a bike that won't get used hardly at all)

pretty sure Amazon was the only hold-out on not charging sales tax online - but now that's pretty much gone too. So, not surprised you had to pay sales tax.
We have one nearby - I went there yesterday for the first time and was very underwhelmed. I went specifically to look for that rack as well. The store was alright, but nothing better than other LBS I've been too, and the prices weren't anything special. I did see the bike rack on sale for the $75, but the weirdo in me still wanted to order it from Nashbar with free shipping and save $10+.
