Are you getting the exact config described on the web site?

Giant has '15 models out, here in the U.S. their '15 Propel Advanced 2 is $2250 (105 group), Advanced 1 is $2775 (Ultegra group). The biggest difference between '15 Advanced 1 and '14 Advanced 2 is that '14 version comes with 50 mm aero wheels (MSRP $1500 if you buy them separately), '15 version comes with basic alloy wheels. (The web site calls them "aero" anyway, but they are pretty thin.)

'14 Advanced 2 with 50 mm wheels for $2400 is a steal. But I would not rule out a risk that the dealer is trying to pull a fast one.

It's exactly as you see it on the link that I provided. He is my go-to LBS and can be trusted. I bought my 2010 Giant TCR Advanced from him. Great little shop.

I went in looking for CF wheels when I saw the Propel. He said that Giant was offering a huge discount to get rid of their 2014 stock.

I had a 94 Supra with a single PT6765 that I LOVED and sold to a good friend who is now taking equally as good care of it as I did. My top condition upon sale was that I was allowed to drive it when I wanted to and it would be parked back in my garage when he went out of town. I now race cars in SCCA that are little more track friendly, a bit more nible, and that dont have 800 whp to blow tires off.

I would jump on it for that price. Ultegra 11 speed is a nice group, had it on my TCR.

I just recieved another email that they will also save me the taxes so its 4500$ taxes in. What to do what to do.

Boy do I feel a bit screwed for paying $4,320 (after 10% discount) for my '14 Propel Advanced 2 last November. Their price changing kind of sours me a little on Giant.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been scouring the websites of Giant dealers in North and South California and best advertised deals I could find are $300 off MSRP for Advanced 2, $200 off MSRP for Advanced 3 and $200 off MSRP for a frameset. 4 out of 5 dealers don't even advertise any discounts. The kind of deal this guy is getting is pretty unique. (I suspect that if I could buy the same bike for that price, I could part it out, sell everything except the frameset, sell my current frame, and come out in the black financially.)

However, I do expect seeing remaining Advanced 2's dropping at least into the neighborhood of 3000 closer to Thanksgiving. And I suspect that deals can be had by haggling with dealers in person. Maybe not $2400 deals but deals.

Thanks for the soothing comment hamster. I'm feeling a little better now. :) At least I'm loving the bike.

On another note, anyone know anything about the new P-SLR0 aero wheels that are on the 2015 Propel Advanced Pro?

For what it's worth, it's not Giant discounting the bikes, sounds like someone is trying to move some stock fast.

TCR SL FTW

(My next bike will be a Propel though...)

Is my quote really that good of a deal? Its in Canadian dollars by the way. They are having a 20% off every bike in the store sale at the end of Aug and said they would push the sale up to now for me if I want to buy it now. Its still in the box at the store from what I am told.

I am really tossing and turning over the decision of this bike. I don't need it atm as my Specialized Allez with Fulcrum 3 wheels is a great bike for me at the moment. That said though I am going to get into racing the bike part of Triathlon relays next year and would like something more areo friendly and lighter for sure. I also do a lot of solo centuries and bike by myself a lot and I feel like this bike is a great fit for me.

The only thing holding me back is I wonder if this bike is really worth this much money even if it is a good deal. I feel like there are other bikes out there for a cheaper amount that are better deals at the moment. I need someone to swing me one way are another as to why this bike costs as much as it does.

Keep in mind that Giant weaves their own CF and makes their own resins, any other manufacturer do that???? I don't think so, has a great R&D department, and don't forget that Marcel, Marianne Vos and others have been doing OK.

Go for it!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: See if they will add some extra things for free.

Two reasons:

* Aerodynamics optimized frame. These are expensive, there's normally something like $500 to $1000 premium for an aero frame vs. traditional carbon frame (e.g. Specialized Venge vs Tarmac).
* Deep rims. Very unusual to see those included with a bike that goes under 3 grand. Not sure how those specific rims compare with other better known brands, but, in general, it's hard to find a brand-name 50 mm wheelset under $1000.

In both cases, you pay money to get a small speedup that you'd only notice when you're racing. So the question is, do you care about shaving seconds and do you expect to splurge on deep-rim wheels in foreseeable future?

Also, don't worry about too much - if you don't buy it, someone else will. Other people need bargains too. :)

I don't know if anyone can answer that question for you. It is a premium bicycle. The cost is fair for the parts and I do not think i've seen a bad review on the Propel.

I recently raced a 90 mile road race on it and felt quite comfortable but I have my fit dialed it which makes a difference.

Lets just put it this way, you can buy a lot less of a bike for that amount of money.

Plus what everyone else posted above. :)
