Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

L.H. is Liz Hatch, by the way, for those bicycle enthusiasts who are not star struck or boobs struck enough to know or care about personalities. :roll eyes:

Gawd, it's a sad state of affairs when someone gets "initials" status simply because they are endowed with healthy boobs. :roll eyes:

I mean, what other claim to fame does she have?

while it is an organic nitrogen fertilizer...

and it is rigorously tested, and probably safer than what is usually put on food... it's made from the poo of milwaukeeans.

Milorganite is also certified by the USDA as a bio-based product since it is derived from renewable materials. The EPA's "Exceptional Quality" criteria was changed significantly, allowing for a higher levels of toxins. Lead, for example was raised from 111 to 267 pounds per acre. Arsenic was raised from 12.5 to 36 pounds per acre. Mercury from 13.4 to 50 pounds per acre, and chromium from 472 to 2,672.[SUP][9][/SUP] This allowed fertilizer of this type to be more widely accepted and used.

...sadly Milorganite suffers from the same issues as anything else made from an urban sewage sludge base.

I would have some difficulties using it on food crops for this reason, although the EPA seems to have come to terms with it.
You can actually get composted cow manure that has less issues in the way of heavy metals, but it comes out of feed lots
here, which in turn have their own sets of issues. It's always somethin'.

It appears likely the powertap will be rebuilt with a psimet 58 clincher, 50f Alchemy ELF, CX Rays. The workhorse of the quiver.

We can do some destructive testing with the 1st generation Assault rim. That thing won't go down easy.

Absolutely, sbxx. Fresh and dried, though right now, all that's here is dried. I'll be happy to get some of that your way in the very near future.

Nice. Your getting quite the collection. I think that Assault should just be framed. It has served you well.

The dried are quite good on their own, though caution is always advised. They mostly all end up that way anyway.

+1

Ladies races are infinitely more watchable than guys races. I dunno why they aren't more popular.

That wheel was really pretty incredible.

That last time down Flagstaff I knew the end was near. I was pushing my luck.

Flagstaff is tough on any set of rims and brakes. I tried out BDop,s Air Brakes for the first time there, and I was impressed.

@3alarmer, "Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road."- Jack Kerouac, On the Road

I was referring of course to @Ramona_W's bus driver. But you made me think of On the Road. Very many ideas appropriate to road bikers in that one.

They're on the Ridley. I had them on the November, but wasn't sure how his carbon brakes would be on the Reynolds rims, Now, it likely doesn't matter, as I think the warranty is void when I went with the CX-Rays. But, I like them a lot.

i wouldn't put it on food either.

supposedly wi farms are less feed-loty than in california. we do have mega dairies, but around here, they're mostly pastured. i'm having a hard time finding data for percentages in each state of feedlot vs. pastured cows. i will admit to not looking very hard.

the 7 hour days i thought i'd be working have been 9 hours, (i haven't even asked to leave at 4, because my boss is still trying to make up on paperwork that is behind because he was doing a 2.5 person job by himself for 6 weeks. so, i stay and work through the stacks.) plus a couple hours when i get home of freelance. i'm starting to drop the ball on stuff, mostly the leather work. that sucks. i don't know what i'd do if they also gave me teaching assignments in summer.

i also have to figure out what to do for lunch. i've been eating only once a day when i get home.

Trying to decide if I want to get my can kicked by the 35+, or the Cat 3's. I like Stazio, but I don't know if I feel like spending 35 to get my ass handed to me.
